I first heard of the “leap frog theory” in Robert Ringer’s best selling “To Be Or Not To Be Intimidated.” This book, by the way should be required reading for every business person.
The theory basically says that when you’re ready to get to the next level you have a few choices… You can patiently wait for someone to anoint you. You can stand in line and with the rest of the herd and “pay the price.” Or you can simply “Leap” over the pack to the head of the line and anoint yourself.
Now some of you may be thinking…”Look Dolpies, this theory sounds good, but it won’t work for me because in my town blah, blah, and blah and you got to wait to get your recognition.” Well of course if you want to be a doctor you need to go through the necessary schooling or risk being thrown in jail. This is not what the Leap Frog Theory is advising you to do. But if you are already in a field or a chosen profession and you’ve paid the price what the leap frog theory will do is elevate you to the top faster than the stairs will.
I guess I can give you a bunch of examples, but for the sake of time I’ll give you one that you may be familiar with and a couple from my own life…
